Words on Fire

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s Arts Exchange program presents an encore of the critically acclaimed Words of Fire, an original production that pays tribute to the city Chicagothrough poetry, theater, dance and music. Texts by Chicago poets such as Gwendolyn Brooks, Carl Sandburg, Cin Salach and Li-Young Lee express the diverse rythms and movements, the jos and sorrows of urban life. The production also pays tribute to Chicago’s rich musical heritage, incorporating blues, jazz, rave, salsa, drumming and hip-hop music.
