When the Sun Melts Away

About the Show

“We’ve been here before, we’ll be here again. We’ve been here since the birth of time. The sun rises, sets, rises again.”

Inspired by the poems of 14th century Kashmiri poet Lal Ded, When the Sun Melts Away is a devised piece that interrogates the process of finding, and sometimes losing, yourself in a world that feels just as nonsensical as our own. Generations later, Lal Ded’s words perfectly encapsulate the loneliness, futility, courage and determination that young Asian/Asian-Americans encounter in the constant struggle to define themselves.
