A sparkling examination of human folly, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night features lovers at crossed purposes, mistaken identity, and a cast of characters ranging from dukes to pranksters. After twins Viola and Sebastian are shipwrecked and separated, Viola disguises herself as a young man named Cesario and finds employment at the court of Duke Orsino. She winds up serving as a go-between as the Duke woos the countess Olivia, even though Viola is herself in love with the Duke. To make things even more complicated, Olivia falls in love with “Cesario.” Meanwhile, trouble is brewing in Olivia’s household between her scheming cousin Sir Toby Belch and her puritanical steward, Malvolio.
