Former college buddies Peter and Julian have fallen out of touch several years after graduation. When Peter learns that Julian has decided to renounce his existence in favor of becoming a tree, he finds himself unexpectedly reunited with his old friend – and involved in a discussion that forces him to reexamine all he thought he knew about biology, relationships, and the nature of humanity.
