Uma Productions (formerly Umalleniay Productions) presents the Chicago premiere of Craig Wright’s Recent Tragic Events. On September 12, 2001, in Minneapolis, a shy bookstore clerk and a neurotic ad exec meet for a blind date and embark upon an absurdly funny and disorienting evening of pizza and drinking games. Joined by her new-age musician neighbor, his half-clothed date and a famous novelist, they end up exploring the very nature of chance, fate, and free will. Wright, the Pulitzer-nominated writer for HBO’s Six Feet Under and playwright of the acclaimed play Orange Flower Water, looks at the emotional issues and ironies of 9/11 in a surprisingly moving and profoundly loving rear-view mirror.
