About the Show

Originally produced on Broadway, William Inge’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Picnic is set in the summer of 1953. A handsome drifter enters a small Kansas town and awakens the passion and loneliness of its female inhabitants. For Madge, the town beauty, the drifter represents much more–a chance at the kind of human understanding and connection she thought she’d never find.
