The Artistic Home Theatre presents Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen, in a translation by Norman Ginsbury. Kathy Scambiatterra directs.
The last of Ibsen’s works written in verse, Peer Gynt draws from a well-known Norwegian folk tale, as well as Ibsen’s own life, to chronicle the misadventures of the young rogue, Peer, who embarks on a quest for fame and fortune that brings him around the globe and into the realms of the underworld. Peer’s life-long raucous and self-centered ways eventually lead him to a final confrontation wherein he must fight for his life and his soul as he is forced to face the repercussions of his choices.
