About the Show
Politics may have prompted Chicago’s nickname, but wind and water are at the heart of its identity. Dame Jane Glover leads a program impishly inspired by our hometown, including a suite from Handel’s grand Water Music. Our wind and horn principals move center stage in Hummel’s Bassoon Concerto and Mozart’s fourth Horn Concerto. Symphonies by Joseph Bologne and Joseph Haydn, both members of the mysterious Freemason Society, add to the intrigue.
