In the Options Pit

About the Show

In the Options Pit is a staged reading of a new play, written and directed by Sharon Greene. Set inside and outside of the Chicago Board of Trade, this comedy is about taking work home, and the trials and tribulations of modern lesbian love. The reading is followed by a talkback with the playwright and refreshments. In this play, Catherine works in the soybean options pit at the Chicago Board of Trade, while her girlfriend is an ambitious law student intent on the good life. When a mutual friend invites Catherine to stay the night, Trish’s jealousy spills over into violence. Seven actors playing twelve characters occasionally incorporate the hand signals of commodities trading to tell Catherine’s story as she struggles to adapt herself to a world in flux.
