Performing at the Piccolo Theatre: A new play by Dario Fo, is a one-man play that relies solely on the imagination of the audience and the considerable skill of Mario Pirovano, who portrays a multitude of characters from 13th century Italy, from Pope through Peasant, and St. Francis himself, to comedic and poignant ends. Stripped of props, scenery and special effects, the show exists only in the relationship between the audience and the performer, making the almost mythological Francis tangible, visceral and relatable.
