Behind the Curtain: The “Expanding Universe” Project

About the Show

As a part of its 50th Anniversary season, the Ruth Page Center for the Arts presents its Fall 2021 Showcase: The “Expanding Universe” Project featuring three events including Behind the Curtain: The “Expanding Universe” Project Project,” a behind-the-scenes presentation that offers audiences a glimpse of the creative process.

The lecture will feature choreographer Nejla Yatkin discussing her process of re-imagining Ruth Page’s 1932 solo collaboration with artist Isamu Noguchi, “Expanding Universe,” including how she creates movement and how she delved into the research necessary for the new work.

Following this lecture, Yatkin’s re-imagining of “Expanding Universe” premieres at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N Dearborn St., Saturday, Oct. 16, at 7pm and Sunday, Oct. 17, at 3pm.
