Spotlight On The Candidates!

Hyde Park, MA – September 25, 2025 – Riverside Theatre Works and the Hyde Park Creative Connector proudly present Spotlight on the Candidates: The Art and Humanity of Boston Politics on Saturday, October 11 at 7:00 PM.

This festive, one-of-a-kind evening gives Boston City Council and Mayoral candidates the opportunity to connect with the community through the power of the performing arts. Participants will take the stage to express their values and personalities through spoken word, music, dance, comedy, skits—even magic.

Far from a traditional debate or town hall, Spotlight on the Candidates is a lighthearted, nonpartisan celebration that highlights the creativity, character, and humanity of those seeking public office. It's an invitation to experience politics from a new perspective—one that emphasizes art, community, and shared joy.

This marks the fourth installment of the event, previously held at Riverside Theatre Works in 2003, 2005, and 2009. Past performances have included poetry readings, bongo drumming, and even tap dancing. It’s not a talent show—it's a civic tradition that honors both the democratic process and the performing arts as cornerstones of vibrant community life.
