About This Show

Josefa is a young woman destined to lose her innocence as she moves from a ballroom dancer in her parents’ act to a goddess on the silver screen. Her rise is a journey of struggle, compromise and assimilation. Following his acclaimed play Clean, which premiered at Hartford Stage in 1995, author Edwin Sánchez’s Diosa tells a story inspired by the life of Rita Hayworth. Set in 1930’s Hollywood, the play is filled with heartbreaking drama and breathtaking Latin dancing. Melia Bensussen directs.
