Cuba’s Albita, Colombia’s Petrona Martínez, and Spain’s Carmen París are three remarkable singers. Through their music–which ranges from traditional Afro-Cuban and Afro-Colombian to contemporary reinventions of the Spanish jota — they tell passionate stories, each one a heartfelt epic, a miniature drama, a musical poem at once biographical and universal. And it’s OK to bring the kids! These are women with Cajones. That’s plural for cajón, the box-like percussion instrument that flavors the music of all three. Presented in Collaboration with Fundación Autor.
