Dan Froot: Shlammer

Dan Froot makes performance work that erases the borders between the disciplines of dance, music and theater. A writer, composer, choreographer, actor, saxophonist and dancer, Froot has created a rich repertory of solo, duet and group works since 1982. Shlammer is a rollicking theater piece, full of surprises, in which the protagonist, a theater artist in search of his own sense of manhood, finds himself dangerously fascinated by an old-school Jewish gangster-turned-vaudevillian. Shlammer features a live Klezmer/Vaudeville band, the DeLuxe Vaudeville Trio of Atlanta, GA and two actors in addition to Froot.
