In-Studio Performance Series featuring Dancing in the Moment

Previously, performances by Dancing in the Moment focused on themes such as the suffrage movement and dancing in nature. For this year’s DITM presentation, the theme is YOU, the audience. 

The dancers will be taking inspiration from themselves, their dance collaborators, and surrounding audience members to cultivate an organic mutual collaboration between human makers, informed by the multitude of connections possible when together in a space.Led by the guidelines of connection, contact, collaboration, and chance, the dancers of DITM showcase in this workshop performance that everyone is a dancer, encouraging a space of intimacy and vulnerability to create.

Dancing in the Moment began in the mind of Marsi Burns, a mature improvisation dance artist living and working between Sarasota and NYC, who wanted to bring multigenerational improvisational dance as a performance art/practice to Sarasota. This diverse group is made up of dancers and non-dancers alike, young and old (in their 20s and 70s), male and female, who all met in class.
