Yacht Rock can be the most technically challenging of the pop genre. Anchors Away is comprised of some of Chicagoland’s finest and most experienced musicians. This lineup represents the culmination of efforts to bring the best yacht rock experience to the music stages and venues. Anchors Away uses no “tracks” or pre-recorded music of any kind. What you hear is real music created in real time by real musicians.

Yacht rock (originally known as the West Coast sound) is a broad music style and aesthetic commonly associated with soft rock; one of the most commercially successful genres from the mid-1970s to the mid- 1980s. Drawing on sources such as smooth soul, smooth jazz, R&B and disco, common stylistic traits include high-quality production, clean vocals, high musicality and a focus on light, catchy melodies.
