About This Show

The first rock opera ever created, The Who’s Tommy is a powerful story of a traumatized deaf, dumb and blind boy who achieves spiritual enlightenment and gains a following once freed from his affliction. Since the groundbreaking concept album’s 1969 release, Tommy has enjoyed multiple reincarnations over the years ranging from a symphonic treatment by the London Orchestra in 1972, a 1975 film adaptation directed by auteur director Ken Russell, and a 1993 reinterpretation for Broadway with theater director Des McAnuff at the helm. Each production has reinterpreted the Who’s story and themes in unique ways.
