Something Rotten! The Musical

Welcome to the hilarious world of Something Rotten!, the musical comedy that turns the Renaissance on its head! In this uproarious show, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are struggling playwrights living in the shadow of the rock star of their age – William Shakespeare. While the Bard is churning out hit after hit, the Bottoms can’t catch a break.

Desperate for a theatrical breakthrough, Nick consults a soothsayer, Nostradamus (the less famous one), who predicts that the future of theatre involves… musicals! With this bizarre and seemingly impossible prophecy in hand, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world’s very first musical, a process filled with outrageous mishaps, mistaken identities, and some truly toe-tapping (and often historically inaccurate) song and dance numbers.

Much like the beloved classic The Producers, Something Rotten! revels in the absurdity of show business, with a pair of well-meaning but utterly out-of-their-depth protagonists attempting to create a theatrical masterpiece (or at least, a commercially successful one). Both shows delight in meta-humor, lampooning the very art form they celebrate, and deliver an abundance of catchy tunes and laugh-out-loud moments.
