About the Show

Originally written for the screen in 1945, State Fair was adapted for Broadway in 1996 and featured John Davidson, Kathryn Crosby, Andrea McArdle and Donna McKechnie in the leading roles. Set against the colorful backdrop of an American heartland tradition, State Fair travels with the Frake family as they leave behind the routine of the farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair in 1946. While family patriarch Abel Frake vies for a blue ribbon with his pig Blue Boy and wife Melissa sets her sights on first place for her mincemeat recipe, their daughter and son find romance and heartbreak on the midway.
