The Value of Names

About the Show

Jeffrey Sweet’s The Value of Names offers a very simple premise. Two characters were actor-friends in their youth, but things changed drastically when one “named” the other as a communist sympathizer before the House Un-American Activities Committee in the 1950s. To free herself of the burden of being the daughter of a “name” actor, a budding actress, wants to change her name which becomes the play’s catalyst and focuses on the heart of the dispute, which evolves into a fight of morality. However, the play leaves the questions of right and wrong, hurt and healing, lingering for the audience to debate long after the final curtain.

There is an additional performance on Saturday, February 18 at 4pm.
