About the Show

Stories on Stage (SOS), a six-year-old non profit organization which stages dramatic readings of short fiction, has partnered with the Art Students League of Denver to create Words of Art.

In an open call for entries, authors were asked to write 5-10 minute stories inspired by art from Art Students League of Denver’s “The Image of Words” exhibit (curated by Emilio Lobato) – a kaleidoscopic myriad of art work incorporating text.

Fourteen short stories were selected by SOS Founder and Artistic Director Norma Moore with Associate Judges Jan Thomas and Carleen Brice. The selected stories were authored by Juliet Wittman (theatre writer for Westword), John Moore (theatre writer for the Denver Post), John Behlmann (National Theatre Conservatory graduate currently appearing on Broadway in the revival of Journey’s End with Boyd Gaines and Jefferson Mays), Gerald Henderson, Elizabeth A. Roberts, Will Guthrie, Tim Roessler, Emily Sinclair, Tabitha Dial, Robert Garner McBrearty, Jari Thymian, Pamela D. Wiegand, Sally Netzel, and Dagny McKinley.

The stories will be performed – with projections of the images which inspired them – by actors Kathleen Brady, Jason Henning, Jeffrey Nickelson, Tierra Bonser, and Broadway veteran Mercedes Perez.
