High Crimes and Misdemeanors

Based on the book of the same name by Joanne Greenberg, High Crimes and Misdemeanors includes three stories. On Tiptoe Must They Leave the Pious of Israel deals with a Jewish angel and racial identity in a society that has suddenly embraced all philosophies at the loss of individual heritages. They Live tackles the question of evil as a suicidal nihilist is confronted with the possibility that good and evil exist as an objective force in the universe. Things in Their Season asks if it is moral to commit a crime in order to save a good man’s life as three Torah students infiltrate a secret U.S. government facility and steal “time” to give to their dying Rabbi.
