New York, 1880s. Hoping to find a new wife, wealthy yet prickly widower Horace Vandergelder recruits the services of vivacious matchmaker Dolly Levi. Little does Horace know that Dolly is plotting to become the next Mrs. Vandergelder herself! As Horace and Dolly set out to Manhattan to commence the search, a madcap mix of mistaken identity, outrageous misbehavior and spontaneous romance ensues.
