Lorraine Kimsa Theatre For Young People presents the Toronto premiere of The Man Whose Mother Was a Pirate by best-selling author Margaret Mahy, adapted for the stage by Paula Wing. Sam was an ordinary person who wore an ordinary suit and ordinary shoes. He worked in a neat office writing down figures all day. But Sam’s mother was a PIRATE! In this engaging story, the pirate mama drags her happy, numbers-obsessed, accountant son on a voyage to sail the fourteen seas. Along the way, they encounter people who also pine to set sail, but cannot summon the courage to follow. Ultimately, it’s a lively and enchanting tale about knowing who you are, where you belong, and why a break from routine can be a good idea.
