Ingrid Keenan directs this play by Robert Morgan, Martha Ross and Leah Cherniak for The Fringe: Toronto’s Theater Festival. The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine is the portrait of a marriage presented in clown style. The title characters are a pair of innocents who fall in love too quickly. After a hasty mariage, they find themselves living in a basement-apartment, made worse by the threats of a temperamental furnace. Can newly wedded bliss last? Well, no. Not really. Clown techniques and puppets are used to create the hellish and hilarious world of domestic love (or is it hate?). The play stars Scott Moore and Tabitha Keast, who received an award for their performance of this play at the 1998 University of Toronto Drama Festival.
