About the Show

The multi-Tony-Winning musical Cabaret features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, authors of the hit show Chicago. Lloyd Allison Entertainment Inc. brings the seedy glamour of the legendary Kit Kat Klub to Toronto’s New Yorker Theatre for an entirely new sizzling production that will be true to the brooding and decadent spirit of Christopher Isherwood’s stories, as was the New York production.

As the Nazis begin their rise to power in Germany in the late 1920s, American writer Clifford Bradshaw visits Berlin. After making a few friends and finding housing, Clifford visits the sleazy Kit Kat Klub and meets an English singer, Sally Bowles. The writer and singer soon fall in love as the leering Emcee, shamelessly sexual without preference to partners, provides a metaphor for the depraved and dangerous place that is Berlin. Meanwhile, Clifford’s elderly landlady gets engaged to a Jewish greengrocer. Tragedy follows for all as the Nazi takeover begins.
