Experience a Community Event launching The Prison Project, a year long broadbased multi-disciplinary exploration of the California Prison System. This unique evening brings together artists, activists and scholars who will be working on an array of projects exploring complex issues of incarceration and imprisonment in our society. The event will highlight several projects-in-progress including The ESP Project’s 53628 which explores the isolation caused by incarceration, Campo Santo’s A Place to Stand from the writings of Jimmy Santiago Baca and Ntozake Shange, and Howard Wiley and The Angola Project’s original musical excavation of prison blues and spirituals.
