To tickle the humor of today’s audiences, Larry Gelbart has moved Ben Jonson’s 17th Century Volpone to a bawdy 1890s San Francisco. Volpone now goes by the name of Foxwell J. Sly but remains the same scheming, nasty piece of work bent on extracting fortunes from a trio of rich opportunists in Sly Fox.
