Atop Mount Tamalpais, with a sweeping view of the Bay area, Mountain Play opens it 94th season of staging world-class musicals in the great outdoors with the seminal flower power rock musical Hair. With book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot, Hair epitomizes the peace-love hippie culture of the late 1960s, telling the story of a tribe of young people who band together to try to change the world. This politically charged, ground-breaking musical premiered in 1967 as the inaugural performance of the Public Theater, and went on to take Broadway by storm.
