From Ballads to Blues:The Songs of Harold Arlen

About the Show

Harold Arlen, whose career spanned the 1920’s through the 1970’s, was one of America’s most prolific songwriters. Even though his list of hit tunes is extensive, he is not as well known as Cole Poter, George Gershwin, or Irving Berlin — the Big Three of the Great American Songbook. Arlen’s songs include “Blues in the Night,” “Accentuate the Positive,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “That Old Black Magic,” “The Man That Got Away,” “One for My Baby,” “Stormy Weather,” and “Over the Rainbow.”
