About the Show

American history explodes as the Bay Area’s award-winning Rough and Tumble ring in the New Year with the West Coast Premiere of 43 Plays for 43 Presidents by Chicago’s acclaimed Neo-Futurists. The lives and presidencies of 43 Chief Executives are re-traced in this chronological history of our country’s political leadership. Featuring witty vignettes that include Ben Franklin giving Thomas Jefferson a Borscht Belt-style roast, Nixon-praising dance numbers (including a chorus of “We love Dick!”), and a WWF-style wrestling match over the 2000 election, it highlights the good, the bad, and the downright funny in an energetic tribute to the men past and present who have run the United States.

Rough and Tumble founding Artistic Director Cliff Mayotte directs this red, white, and blue comedy, called “zany, clever, ambitious, and surprisingly moving” by the Chicago Sun-Times.
