Walking On Turtle Island

About the Show

Award-Winning performer Robert Owens Greygrass presents Walking On Turtle Island, which examines the social issues of Native American people; it also explores cultural alienation, genocide and oppression. It is profound, honest and ironically funny theatre.

Greygrass inhabits the “skin” of 21 characters from his reservation, morphing from Jesse White Toes, a son dancer of mixed blood to an Ojibway woman who spans the life of a young girl to an 80-year-old woman. He incorporates Native American philosophy, flute, singing in his native tongue, storytelling and history.
