Translations is a sweeping Irish drama by Brian Friel. 1833 Ireland, the English have come to rename the towns and locales from Gaelic to English. When an Irishman helps an Englishman to remap the area, they both find themselves trying to communicate with each other and the local Irish. Translations pierces the darkness of language and communication. Considered by many to be Brian Friel’s greatest work with one of the most famous love scenes in contemporary dramatic literature.
