About the Show

Third, the final play by the late Wendy Wasserstein, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of The Heidi Chronicles, questions the liberal values that had long been a staple of her writing. Laurie Jameson is a pioneering professor at an elite Eastern school, whose life and career become unhinged when she enters an academic and personal standoff with a preppy student athlete named Woodson Bull III. She perceives “Third” to be “a walking Red State” who embodies everything about America that she deplores. Their interaction questions the liberal orthodoxy of Laurie’s viewpoint and breaks new ground in both of their futures.

Part of PCPA Theaterfest’s Interplay staged reading series.
