The Little Dog Laughed

About the Show

Playwright Douglas Carter Beane reveals the true nature of Hollywood in The Little Dog Laughed. The play is a fast-paced, hilarious look at the world of celebrity and the down-and-dirty politics of show business. No one is exactly who they say they are. No one reveals exactly what they want, except in private and under duress.

Directed by Jeremy Witcher, we follow the adventures of Mitchell Green, a handsome young movie star who could hit it big if it weren’t for one teensy-weensy problem: his hard-driving Hollywood agent can’t seem to keep him in the closet.

Trying to help him navigate Hollywood’s choppy waters, the devilish Diane is doing all she can to keep Mitchell away from the cute rent boy who’s caught his eye and the rent boy’s girlfriend, Ellen (wait, the rent boy has a girlfriend?).

When Mitchell and Alex become involved in a physical relationship, Diane is concerned that what she describes as Mitchell’s “slight recurring case of homosexuality” will derail his career before it gets started.

Will there be a happy ending as the final credits roll?
