On the night of October 6, 1998 or in the early morning hours of October 7, Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old student at the University of Wyoming, was abducted, robbed, and beaten in one of the most highly publicized gay bashings ever. On November 14, 1998, Moises Kaufman and members of his theater company, Tectonic Theater Project, traveled to Laramie to talk to people in the town where the crime occurred. The Colony Theatre Company presents the Los Angeles premiere of The Laramie Project, written by Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theater Project. Nick DeGruccio directs.
Due to intense subject matter, this production is not recommended for young children.
