Gary SanAngel and Darrell Kunitomi direct this production that connects the personal stories of Asian-American men from Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New Haven and New York in a powerful and moving evening of performance. Following the raw success of performance artist Dan Kwong’s Asian American Men’s workshop Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Asian Men But Didn’t Give Enough of a Shit to Ask, SanAngel founded the critically-acclaimed pan-Asian performance group Peeling the Banana in New York City. He was also instrumental in inspiring or starting up similar groups in New Haven and Yale. The different groups have won praise and fans with heart-wrenching performances that transcend class and race and give voice to a powerful and human Asian America rarely seen by the mainstream.
