Karen Benjamin and Alan Chapman star in the second season of The Shannon Center Cabaret Series, a showcase of some of the finest cabaret performers in Southern California. This is a return engagement for the husband and wife duo as they mix it up in two…count ’em…two different programs. At 8 p.m. is Movie Music Madness. Part cabaret, part sing-along, and part game show, it is what you’d get if Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Henry Mancini and Alex Trebek put together a show. Featuring Benjamin’s soaring vocals of great movie songs from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s, the audience is invited to join in singing and competing for prizes answering questions about the music, the writers and films. The second show, a Midnight Cabaret at 12 a.m., is Obscene and Not Heard, a collection of songs by Chapman and other writers that push the envelope. Racy and totally politically in-correct, your attendance will be interpreted as a willingness to blush, gape, gasp, and laugh your asterisk off!
