West Coast Ensemble presents the west coast premiere of Cry Havoc, written by Tom Coash and directed by Richard Israel.
Cry Havoc, a powerful and timely story is set in present day Cairo which explores the complex and controversial issues embedded in the troubled relationship between the western world and the Islamic middle east. Ideas and attitudes about cultural imperialism, religious fundamentalism and personal sexuality are deftly unfolded in this sometimes tender, sometimes shocking play about the dissolution of an otherwise loving relationship between a British expatriate writer living in Cairo, and his young Egyptian lover. Both men are forced to examine the fine line between conviction and obsession as they discover how far they will go in the painful pursuit of love.
