WMI Plus At Home – Mali Obomsawin and Julian Brave Noisecat

Just ahead of her performance at Roulette on Oct 30, bassist, composer, vocalist, and proud member of the Odanak First Nation, Mali Obomsawin, joins us for a WMI Plus At Home conversation with writer, Oscar-nominated filmmaker, champion powwow dancer, and student of Salish art and history Julian Brave Noisecat. Mali composed the score for the 2024 Academy Award-nominated film Sugarcane, a National Geographic documentary by Julian and Emily Kassie about child abuse and disappearances at an Indian residential school in Canada. Mali and her band will perform the score live during the film’s screening.
