Bronx Rising!: The Garifuna Resistance

About the Show

Celebrate the powerful legacy of King Joseph Chatoyer, the Garifuna leader who led his people in resistance against British colonial rule in the Caribbean during the 18th century. Through a vibrant fusion of music, dance, and theater, Felix Gamboa’s Joseph Chatoyer Garifuna Dance Ensemble brings this story of courage, culture, and resilience to life.

The evening also includes a discussion exploring Chatoyer’s historical impact and the rich traditions of the Garifuna people—whose community today thrives in the Bronx, home to the largest Garifuna population outside Central America.

To enhance security and improve efficiency, the Bronx Music Hall is now a cashless venue. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as digital payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay

All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued.
