About This Show

Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is an irresistible musical adventure that continues to delight children and adults alike since it was composed in 1936. The evocative music with its unforgettable instruments and simple story has taken on many different shapes. The WPI Orchestra, the Youth Ballet of Worcester and The Hanover Theatre will collaborate on a multi-disciplinary interpretation of the work in spring 2014, unifying music and movement to cultivate the musical taste of children from their very first theatrical experience. The WPI Orchestra and Youth Ballet of Worcester will share The Hanover Theatre stage in an innovative approach that unifies music and movement, and serves as a learning tool, as individual instruments within the orchestra are highlighted in connection with individual characters in the story. The project’s leadership creative team includes Douglas Weeks, conductor of the WPI Orchestra, and Ballet Arts Worcester director Jennifer Agbay.
