About This Show

Based on a true even that occured in 1925, the musical Floyd Collins explores the consequences of one man’s obsessive pursuit of the American dream. For young Floyd, an impoverished, backwards Kentucky boy, hope for a prosperous future lies in discovering a massive cave system. When a misstep traps him beneath the Earth’s surface, the tourist attraction he hoped to find becomes his worst nightmare. Adam Guettel’s soaring music stunningly evokes the ironic tragedy of a dream found and lost in the heat of a frantic media circus. Jared Coseglia directs.

Appropriate for audiences 16 and up.

Postscript performance June 14.
