Set at the Highway 57 service station and Double Cupp Diner in the rural south, Pump Boys and Dinettes is a musical look at Americana through the eyes of four gas station attendants and the Cupp sisters. Passing time by telling stories, cooking and enjoying home-style meals, the characters are both skilled and inventive musicians, transforming kitchen utensils into instruments by banging pots and pans with wooden spoons. Songs include “Taking it Slow,” “Fisherman’s Prayer,” and “The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine.”
