Jasmine Guy to Direct Robin Givens and Nicole Ari Parker in for colored girls in Atlanta logo

Jasmine Guy will direct True Colors Theatre's production of for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, to play the Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta, July 12- August 9, with an opening set for July 15.

This Obie Award winning "choreopoem" blends poetry, dance, and narrative into a performance reflecting both the struggles of a minority and the African-American female journey through America. The production will star Robin Givens and Nicole Ari Parker, with additional casting to be announced at a later date.

Guy recently starred in True Colors' Blues for an Alabama Sky and Miss Evers' Boys, and previously directed a critically acclaimed production of for colored girls at Atlanta's 14th Street Playhouse. Her Broadway credits include Leader of the Pack, Grease, Beehive, The Wiz, and Chicago. She appeared as Roxy Harvey in the Showtime series Dead Like Me, and will be reprising that role in the feature film due out this fall. She is also known for playing Whitley Marion Gilbert Wayne on A Different World.

Givens, who will play Lady in Orange, starred in the TV series Head of the Class and Sparks, and her films include Boomerang and A Rage in Harlem. She also starred on Broadway as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Parker, who will play Lady in Purple, is best known for her work in Showtime's Soul Food. Her theater credits include Chicago, House of Lear, and Romeo and Juliet.
