Ashley Park, Michael Park, and More to Join Laura Linney in Tales of the City

Netflix has announced casting for its upcoming revival of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, starring original cast members Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis.
Premiering in 2019, the 10-part limited series inspired by Maupin's book series features Linney reprising her performance as Mary Ann Singleton, with Dukakis once again taking on the role of Anna Madrigal, as well as Barbara Garrick returning to the character of DeDe Halcyon Day. Ellen Page will play Mary Ann's daughter, Shawna Hawkins.
Newly announced for the revival are Broadway vets Paul Gross (Private Lives), who returns to the role of Brian Hawkins, Murray Bartlett (M. Butterfly), who will play Michael "Mouse" Tolliver, Ashley Park (Mean Girls) as Ani, Matthew Risch (Pal Joey) as Harrison, Michael Park (Dear Evan Hansen) as Mary Ann's husband Robert, and Samantha Soule (Coram Boy) as Inka. Drama Desk Award winner Juan Castano (Transfers) will play Flaco Ramirez.
The cast is also made up of Josiah Victoria Garcia as Jake Rodriguez, May Hong as Margot Park, Jen Richards as young Anna Madrigal, Daniela Vega as Ysela, Michelle Buteau as Wren, Christopher Larkin as Raven, Caldwell Tidicue a.k.a. "Bob the Drag Queen" as Ida Best, Dickie Hearts as Mateo, and Benjamin Thys as Eli.
The new series is described as follows: "Inspired by the books by Armistead Maupin, this next chapter — Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City — follows Mary Ann (Laura Linney), who returns home to San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brian, 20 years after leaving them behind to pursue her career. Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann returns home to her chosen family and will quickly be drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis) and the residents of 28 Barbary Lane."
Lauren Morelli serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Alan Poul serving as producing director and executive producer. The writing team is made up of playwrights including Patricia Resnick, Marcus Gardley, Jen Silverman, and Hansol Jung, as well as Andy Parker and Thomas Page McBee. Directors include Silas Howard, Sydney Freeland, Stacie Passon, and Kyle Alvarez.
