Full casting and creative team information has been announced for Berkeley Rep’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s Heartbreak House, to be directed by the company’s associate artistic director Les Waters. The production will run from August 31-October 14, with an opening date of September 5.

In the play, ridiculous aristocrats, eccentric suitors, and iconoclastic women grapple with unlikely romance in a world on the brink of war.

The cast of Heartbreak House will include Chris Ayles (Burglar), Stephen Caffrey (Hector Hushabye), David Chandler (Boss Mangan), Matt Gottlieb (Mazzini), Michelle Morain (Hesione Hushabye), Lynne Soffer (Nurse Guinness), Allison Jean White (Ellie Dunn), Susan Wilder (Ariadne Utterword), Michael Winters (Captain Shotover), and Michael Ray Wisely (Randall Utterword).

The creative team will include scenic designer Annie Smart, costume designer Anna R. Oliver, lighting designer Alexander V. Nichols, and sound designer Obadiah Eaves.

Waters is currently represented on the New York stage with Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice, which he previously directed at Berkeley Rep. Other productions he’s helmed for the company include Fêtes de la Nuit, Finn in the Underworld, The Glass Menagerie, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The Pillowman, Suddenly Last Summer, To the Lighthouse, and Yellowman. He received an Obie Award for his production of Big Love.
