August Wilson scholar Harry J. Elam, Jr. will direct the regional premiere of Radio Golf, to be presented by TheatreWorks at the Mountain View
Center for the Performing Arts, October 8-November 2, with an opening set for October 11.

The final work in Wilson’s ten play cycle chronicling the African-American experience in the 20th century, this hustling comedy-drama set in the 1990’s tells the story of an Ivy League-educated lawyer seeking to redevelop a rundown area of a Pittsburgh neighborhood while preparing his campaign to become the city’s first black mayor.

The cast will be led by Aldo Billingslea as Harmond Wilks, Anthony J. Haney as Roosevelt Hicks, and C. Kelly Wright as Mame Wilks. The cast will also include Charles Branklyn and L. Peter Callender.

Elam has previously directed Wilson’s Two Trains Running and Fences for TheatreWorks, as well as productions of Blues for an Alabama Sky and Jar the Floor. He is the author of several books, including The Past as Present in the Drama of August Wilson.
