Works by Alan Ayckbourn, Kristoffer Diaz, Tracy Letts, Neil Simon, et al. Set for Old Globe’s 2010-2011 Winter Season

The Old Globe Theatre has announced selections for its 2010-2011 winter season, which will begin with Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound, performed in repertory September 14-November 17, under Scott Schwartz’s direction.

Also in the Old Globe Theatre will be the West Coast premiere of Ayub Khan-Din’s Olivier Award-winning comedy Rafta, Rafta…, based on All in Good Time by Bill Naughton, and directed by Henry Wishcamper (March 19-April 24) and the regional premiere of Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, August: Osage County, directed by Sam Gold (May 7-June 12). The Old Globe will also house a musical, to be announced, January 15-February 20.

In the company’s Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre will be the West Coast premiere of Kristoffer Diaz’s Welcome to Arroyo’s, directed by Jaime Castaneda (September 25-October 31, with additional performances at Lincoln High School Center for the Arts, November 4-7); Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, directed by Pam MacKinnon (January 22-February 27); the regional premiere of Ian Bruce’s Groundswell, directed by Kyle Donnelly (March 12-April 17); and the U.S. premiere of Alan Ayckbourn’s Life of Riley, directed by Richard Seer (April 30-June 5).

In addition, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program will present Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, directed by Ray Chambers (November 7-14), and the holiday show Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, will return for its 13th
consecutive year, playing the Old Globe Theatre (November 20 – December 26).
